Going Beyond Text and Numbers

Existing information systems can only handle text and numbers using very simple logical functions like AND, OR, or NOT (Boolean expressions). Items in the data either match the query or they do not leading to too few or too many results. Additionally, existing search and filtering methods lack any ability to meaningfully rank or order results.

The Query Engine's uniqueness is found in its ability to capture and analyze a broad range of data types. In contrast to the limitations of traditional information systems, the Query Engine handles the basic building blocks of text and numbers and expands the palette of data types to include targets, preferences, importance, beliefs and estimates. It moves beyond the current basic binary match/no match paradigm to continuous data analysis in a probability space.

By using modern Bayesian methods, the Query Engine is able to calculate a relevance or satisfaction value for each record or item. This, for the first time, allows for true ranking and ordering of results.
